Argentina announces free TV to watch the FIFA World Cup

A unique situation has emerged in Argentina with football fever ahead of the Football World Cup. To appease fans who have not been granted US visas, a local company has announced free TV.

Many football fans in Argentina have been denied visas to the US to watch the 2026 World Cup, but now a company has made an unusual offer for them.

Argentine giant Newsan has announced that it will give away 100 television sets of its local brand Noblex for free to people who line up outside its office in Buenos Aires and prove that they were denied a US visa between January and June this year.

The company’s ad on Instagram said: “Show us your denied visa and get a free TV.”

One lucky person on the scene was Thomas Wageler, a 24-year-old professional video game player who said he applied for the visa in the hope that this could be Lionel Messi’s last World Cup.

“I’m very sad that I won’t be able to go to the World Cup, but at least I’ve got a gift,” said Thomas Wageler.

According to the report, there is excitement in Argentina about the World Cup, however, the atmosphere is relatively less warm this time compared to the previous 2022, with many fans seeing the 2022 edition as Argentina’s last great hope under the leadership of Lionel Messi.

Now, just a few days before the start of the 2026 World Cup, this unique offer and visa issues have become the center of attention of fans.
