On the instructions of the Collector of Customs Islamabad,
customs raids were conducted on six stores across the district, including
Imtiaz Super Store and D. Watson Chemist, for violating the import policy.
Goods worth millions of rupees were seized from the stores selling smuggled
goods.
The Collector of Customs had received information that
smuggled goods were being sold at Imtiaz Super Store Chain, D. Watson Chemist
located in Gulberg Green, Islamabad, Shaheen Grocery, Lifestyle Collection, and
Hayes Store located in Safa Gold Mall.
On which, teams of the Customs CIU unit raided the said
store and seized foreign perfumes, shoes, chocolates, cosmetics and other goods
worth millions of rupees.
On the spot, the management of D. Watson Chemist, Imtiaz
Super Store, and other stores failed to provide import documents to customs
officials. After the customs raid, there was chaos in the management of Imtiaz
Super Store and D. Watson Chemist located in Gulberg Green. However, the
customs gave them three days to provide import documents or cases would be
registered.
