The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has openly praised
Pakistan’s judicial decision and welcomed the Lahore High Court’s decision to
uphold the death penalty of the convicts in the Motorway Gang Rape case.
The Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed the appeals
against the conviction of Abid Malhi and Shafqat Bagga, convicts in the
Motorway Gang Rape case. Elon Musk, while welcoming the death penalty verdict
for the convicts in the Motorway Gang Rape case, has said that the West should
also take courageous decisions like Pakistan.
Elon Musk said this in response to a social media message
from British MP Rupert James Graham.
Rupert James described the court’s decision as good news
from Pakistan. He is also the leader of the political party Restore Britain.
His party works to restore public trust in the system of governance and promote
accountability at the local level.
It may be recalled that on March 20, 2021, the
Anti-Terrorism Court had sentenced the convicts in the Motorway Gang Rape case
to death for the crime of rape.
Both the convicts had challenged the decision in the Lahore
High Court on March 25, 2021.
