Islamabad: Grade 19 officer Wasim Afzal Warraich, who was
doing a government job on a fake degree, has been dismissed. The divisional
bench of the Islamabad High Court has dismissed the intra-court appeal filed by
Grade 19 officer Wasim Afzal Warraich.
According to the judgment issued on July 1, 2026, Wasim
Afzal Warraich has been found guilty of fraud and forgery. The judgment states
that the BA and MBA degrees were obtained by cheating and forgery.
The court ordered the return of all the benefits received
during the job and the court also directed the FIA to take legal action
against Wasim Afzal.
According to the details, Wasim Afzal got a job in SME Bank based
on a fake degree in 1993 and left the job in 2009 under the Golden Handshake
Scheme. Than the accused got a Grade 19 job in the Ministry of Labor and
Manpower in 2011 based on fake certificates.
However, in 2017, the Islamabad High Court declared Wasim
Afzal's degrees fake and ordered his dismissal from the job.
Following the court's decision, the Ministry of Overseas
Pakistanis issued a notification dismissing Wasim Afzal Warraich from his job
and withdrawing his benefits. The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has also
directed the FIA to take criminal action against Wasim Afzal.
