NEPRA issues notification on increase in electricity prices


 Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has increased the cost of electricity for consumers across the country, including Karachi, by 34 paise per unit.

The government has given bad news to electricity consumers across the country, including Karachi, in the first month of the new financial year, and Nepra has also issued a notification to increase the cost of electricity.

According to Nepra’s notification, electricity has been increased by 34 paise per unit for the entire country, which has been made in the monthly fuel adjustment for May 2026. The notification states that the monthly adjustment will also be applied to K-Electric consumers, and the increase will be applied in the bills of July this month.

According to the notification, CPPA had demanded an increase of 82 paise per unit in the said adjustment for May, however, Nepra has increased it by 32 paise.
