Once again, the Federal Board of Revenue appointed a BPS-20 officer, namely Mr Azhar Hussain Merchant, to conduct an inquiry against 23 Customs officers, in pursuance of the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules.
It is a good initiative to counter corruption in the department,
but the question is how many inquiries will FBR conduct without the implementation
of the punishments. There are various records of inquiries about corrupt
officers, but after completion, very few officers are being punished.
