United States in Pakistan has refreshed its old relationships in higher education through a new 5-year agreement between the Higher Education Commission HEC and the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan USEFP.
According to media reports, this resurrection of the partnership was done solely for academic reasons, excellence in human capital enrichment, research, and international education. US Executive Director Dr Peter Moran and HEC Executive Director Professor Dr Ziaul Qayyum inked an accord at the USEFP headquarters in Islamabad on Tuesday.
"USEFP-developed
programs give power to the volunteers to flourish their skills and to do
practical work which would be directly beneficial for Pakistan's development in
various sectors of society. We are grateful for the ongoing partnership of the
Government of the US and Pakistan in upgrading this mission," the executive
Director of US uttered.
In response, Professor Haq stated, "The HEC time
honored full bright bilateral alliance exemplifies as a symbol of educational
cooperation and continues to deliver significant value to Pakistan's higher education
landscape. David
Moyer said," The United States is proud to refresh the relationship
with Pakistan's Higher Education Commission HEC."
As the media unfolds, the course of the events serves as a
testament that both governments are on the same page for empowering the future
of students and scholars, professionals, and whatever personnel are to
contribute in the welfare of Pakistan, acting as a foundational pillar in strengthening
Pakistan and US relationships more strongly.

students are exposed to the American education system and the coming
opportunities, obviously, conversely augmenting the Pakistani higher education
facility. Americans are coming to cooperate with Pakistan on pioneering
scholarly inquiry, cooperation, and public health-related factors that yield
immense value to US universities."
The Education
Minister claimed that Wajiha Qamar is acting as a trainee to lead the ministry
in advance of Pakistan-US educational cooperation.
It is stated that "The Ministry of Education is hailing
the new five-year agreement covering financial year 2026-27 through financial
year 2031- 32 in compassing the full bright Masters and PhD programs, visiting
scholar program for post-doctoral scholars, foreign language, technical
teaching, assistant program and about Humphrey Fellowship Program"
Under the signed contract, it is documented that
opportunities will be given to 66 PhD scholars over the span of 5 years in
addition to the facilities granted through other program streams.
The binding covenant stipulates HEC will provide at least
dollar 4.54 million on a yearly basis, with the total funding commitment kept
at rupees 6.48 billion over the span of 5 years. The stipulated payment
provides for Dollar 2 million by June 30, an additional 2 million by January 31,
and the remaining balance by April 30, conditioned on the punctual remittance
of treasury capital. Accumulated dividends earned on HEC funds held by
USEFP shall be re-channelized to
students to support the educational system and partnership.
