I am not interested in visiting India. Bangladeshi PM

Bangladesh has made it clear that Prime Minister Tariq Rahman will not visit India until India extradites former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid. It is worth noting that the then-Prime Minister of Bangladesh fled to India after the 2024 uprising, and since then, relations between the two countries have been severely strained.

Sheikh Hasina faces the death penalty in Bangladesh after being convicted of crimes against humanity, and the Bangladeshi government has submitted several formal extradition requests to India.

According to sources from Bangladesh, Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry official AKM Shahidul Karim, speaking to the press, dismissed all media speculation about a possible visit by Prime Minister Tariq Rahman to India next week, stating: "We believe it is first necessary to create a conducive environment for this visit."

He added, "To achieve this goal, we have urged Indian authorities to intensify their efforts to extradite Sheikh Hasina and other fugitives. “Meanwhile, India's position is that Bangladesh's extradition request is being examined in accordance with legal procedure and is currently under consideration.
