The Excise and Taxation Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
auctioned personalized number plates, but hold the auction of 804 and number
plates attributed to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Ali
Zardari is also put on hold.
The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of the
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government auctioned personalized number plates at Nishtar
Hall, Peshawar, where several number plates were sold for crores of rupees;
however, number plates attributed to the heads of major political parties of
the country were not auctioned.
A special auction ceremony was held under the chairmanship
of Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Syed
Fakhar-e-Jahan where special interest was expressed in the auction of choice
number plates based on different personalities, tribal names, political and
regional identities.
The aim of this unique auction by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
government is to generate significant revenue for the government treasury.
Officials from the Excise and Taxation Department said that
they want the bids for the number plate 804 to be high, but if we do it
locally, the bids will be low, so we will hold an online auction to get the
maximum price.
