Tehran: Iranian Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali says that under the current circumstances, Iran cannot participate in the 2026 Football World Cup.
According to foreign media, Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali
said while talking to state TV that since this corrupt government has killed
our leader, we cannot participate in the World Cup under any circumstances.
He said that the country has suffered serious losses due to
recent actions and conflicts against Iran, so it is not possible to send the
team to the world tournament in the current situation. It should be noted that
the 2026 Football World Cup will be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada
and Mexico.
The Iranian national team has qualified for this tournament,
but its participation has become uncertain after the government statement.
