The issue of alleged occupation and forced fencing of a
developed land of Bahria Town Phase 8 in Rawalpindi has created a new
controversy. Bahria Town administration has taken a stand in a letter sent to
the Punjab Chief Minister that some individuals and officials associated with
institutions allegedly illegally entered and occupied the land owned and
occupied by Bahria Town, and fenced it.
According to the letter, the said land is owned by Bahria
Town and huge investments have been made on it for years for development work,
construction of infrastructure, roads, facilities and security arrangements.
The company claims that the record of the land is present in the revenue
documents and it has been in legal and peaceful possession of it.
According to Bahria Town, on June 13, 2026, several people
arrived at the spot along with heavy machinery, laborers and security personnel
and allegedly removed the company’s security staff and started fencing the
land.
The head of legal says that if any party has any claim
regarding the ownership of the land, it should be decided by the relevant court
or revenue forum, and not by use of force or unilateral action. The company has
taken the position that such steps can prove detrimental to the rule of law,
property rights and investor confidence.
Bahria Town has demanded from the Chief Minister of Punjab
that the matter be immediately investigated, the relevant administrative and
police authorities be directed to take action, official measurement
(demarcation) of the land be done and any further alleged occupation or
construction activity be stopped. The petition also states that if any illegal
action is confirmed, action should be taken against the responsible persons as
per the law.
Bahria Town maintains that the incident has raised serious
questions regarding the protection of legal property rights, law and order and
investment environment. On the other hand, the position of the relevant
institutions on this issue has not yet been revealed, so a final determination
of the facts will be possible only after an impartial investigation of all
aspects of the dispute.
