Islamabad: Bushra Bibi has filed an appeal in the Federal
Constitutional Court to suspend the sentence given by the trial court and
release her on bail.
The appeal has taken the position that Bushra Bibi developed
an eye disease during her imprisonment, due to which she underwent eye surgery.
The petition has said that she deserves suspension of the sentence and bail due
to her being a woman and her illness.
The appeal has further taken the position that Bushra Bibi
was kept in solitary confinement, where she was deprived of proper treatment
and care.
The petition has also alleged that the National
Accountability Bureau (NAB) is deliberately obstructing the decision on the
applications for suspension of sentence; therefore, the court should suspend
the trial court’s sentence and order her release on bail.
