Citizen fakes his own death to avoid punishment

Beijing: A citizen in China's Hunan province planned to fake his own death to avoid a drunk driving case, which surprised both the police and the public, but his drama did not last long.

According to the Chinese police, a man named 'C' was recently arrested for driving while intoxicated. During the investigation, it was found that he had been caught driving while intoxicated twice before without a license. After being arrested for the third time, he feared that the court would send him to jail.

According to the police, the accused planned his fake death with the help of his family to avoid punishment. For this purpose, a coffin was purchased in advance, empty medicine bottles were scattered around the house and an environment was created that apparently caused his death due to an overdose of medicine.

During the funeral, the suspect's mother and grandmother covered his face with a cloth and told neighbors that his face was badly affected by the effects of the drugs. A hasty funeral was also staged on the same day, while the suspect secretly fled to another province.

However, several suspicious aspects forced the police to investigate. Authorities found that the coffin had been purchased before the alleged death, no ambulance was called, no police were notified, and no official records existed regarding the death or burial.

Later, with the help of information from neighbors and security camera footage, it was confirmed that the suspect was alive. The police took action and arrested him.

The court sentenced the suspect to five months in prison and a fine of 20,000 yuan, while legal action was also initiated against his mother and grandmother for covering him up and hiding the facts from the authorities.
