Islamabad: The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat has sought complete details of all IPPs from NEPRA.
The committee has also sought data on the owners, capacity
and power generation of IPPs. Briefing the committee, NEPRA officials said that
last year, IPPs were paid Rs1,149 billion in energy charges and Rs1,800 billion
in capacity charges.
According to officials, till April this year, IPPs have been
paid Rs1,023 billion in energy charges and Rs1,430 billion in capacity charges.
NEPRA officials said that a total of Rs7,275 billion has
been paid to IPPs as capacity charges over the last five and a half years.
