The salaries and benefits of Supreme Court judges have been significantly increased.

After President Asif Ali Zardari approved the summary, on the recommendation of the federal government, the salaries and benefits of Supreme Court judges were brought in line with those of judges of the Federal Constitutional Court, and the base salaries of High Court judges were also increased.

The salary and benefit increase for judges of the highest courts took effect on December 10, 2025. Benefits accrued from the previous period will also be paid to Supreme Court judges, along with any outstanding back pay.

The monthly base salary of the Chief Justice of Pakistan was set at 1.55 million rupees, that of the other Supreme Court judges at 1.5 million rupees, and that of the Supreme Court judges was increased from 1.1 million to 1.5 million rupees.

The judicial allowance for Supreme Court judges was also significantly increased, from 1,161,163 rupees to 1,500,000 rupees. This represents an increase of approximately 339,000 rupees per month.

Significant changes were also made to the pension plan for Supreme Court judges: the age limit of 70 in the pension clause was raised to 75, and the age limit of 85 in the corresponding clause was raised to 90. In addition, a monthly medical allowance of 150,000 rupees was established for Supreme Court judges.

The base salaries of High Court judges were also increased. The new salaries will take effect on July 1, 2026. The monthly base salary of the Chief Justice of the High Court was set at 1,254,000 rupees, while that of the other judges will be 1,205,000 rupees.

The salary of High Court judges has been increased from 10,095,000 rupees to 12,050,000 rupees, and their monthly base salary has been increased by 110,000 rupees.

A new benefit has been introduced for those who have served as Chief Justices of the High Court for more than two years: upon retirement or promotion to a higher court, they will be eligible to purchase a car at a discount. Retired judges will also be eligible to receive authorization to pay fees in federal government arbitration cases.
