Lahore: The Federal Ministry of Production has permitted the
export of cheap sugar imported at high prices.
According to sources in the Ministry of Production, this
decision will cost the national exchequer billions of rupees, as the government
could not export 250,000 tons of local cheap sugar.
Sources say that the decision to export 100,000 tons of
sugar is disappointing.
According to sources, it will not be possible to buy the
sugarcane crop from farmers; the sugar mill owners have informed the Ministry
of Production in advance.
