PM took strict action on the issue of the Chief Commissioner and IG Islamabad buggy ride.

Issue of the Chief Commissioner and IG Islamabad enjoying protocol in a PM House buggy. The Prime Minister has taken a very serious view of the incident after strong criticism on social media.

According to the details, at the official function held on 14 August 2026, wherein the Chief Commissioner and Inspector General of Islamabad Capital Territory rode to the event in a ceremonial horse-drawn buggy, attracting widespread public criticism.

Noticing the seriousness of the matter, Interior Minister Muhsin Naqvi issued an explanatory statement on behalf of the Chief Commissioner and IG Islamabad, but the matter could not be dumped. After which the PM now took strict notice.

In the official letter, the Prime Minister has expressed disappointment and displeasure at this display of pomp and show, observing that it projected an image of privilege, ostentation and personal aggrandizement wholly at odds with the ethos of public service.

It is further mentioned that Civil servants and public functionaries hold public office in trust for the people and are, therefore, expected to demonstrate humility, restraint, dignity and sound judgment at all times. Such conduct undermines public confidence in public institutions and is inconsistent with the standards of conduct expected of senior civil servants and government functionaries.

As Police Chief of the Nation's Capital, people and Government expect the highest standards of propriety, conduct and responsible governance from holders of such prestigious public office.

PM advised both of the officers to be careful in the performance of your duties, and ensure that such conduct should not recur.
