A deadly Nipah virus has put the hosting of the T20 World Cup at risk in India.

Kolkata: A virus more deadly than coronavirus has broken out in India, which has killed many people and an emergency has been imposed, and there is a fear that the schedule of the T20 World Cup will also be affected.

The highly deadly Nipah virus in the Indian state of West Bengal has shaken India's health system. This epidemic wave started from a private hospital in Barasat city, where 5 cases have been confirmed so far, including 3 medical staff members who were treating patients.

The affected patients were immediately shifted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Kolkata, and about 100 people have been kept under strict medical supervision and quarantine to prevent the spread of the virus.

Nipah is a zoonotic virus that is transmitted from animals, mainly bats, to humans. First discovered in 1998. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), its mortality rate is between 40 and 75 percent, which makes it much more dangerous than COVID-19.

On the other hand, the outbreak of the Nipah virus in India has also put the holding of the T20 at risk. If the virus spreads further, the event schedule may be affected.

It should be noted that there is no vaccine for this virus in the world yet.
